STOKE City fans an anxious 90 minutes today (July 12) when their favourite team take on Birmingham City at the bet365 stadium.
It's a 'must-win' game for the Potters if they are to improve their chances of maintaining Championship status for another season.
The club currently sit just one place above the relegation zone after a catastrophic 5-0 hammering at league leaders Leeds United on Thursday.
Manager Michael O'Neill was furious at the attitude of his players who were sunk without trace after conceding a needless penalty bang on half-time.
Until them the Potters had remained in the game after producing a spirited defensive performance up against a rampant Leeds attack.
A furious O'Neill commented after the game: "We made five substitutions but if I had the chance to make 10, believe me, I would have done".
The results of yesterday's Championship fixtures went in Stoke's favour and they need to capitalise on their good fortune, particularly Hull City's 1-0 loss at home to Millwall.
A victory for Hull would have consigned the Potters to the bottom three.
With three tough games remaining after today, to get themselves out of trouble - Bristol City (a) , Brentford (h) and Notts Forest (a) - anything other than a victory against Birmingham could open the trapdoor to League One.
Today's game behind closed doors at the bet365 Stadium kicks off at 1.30pm.
