A TORY MP claims ending parking charges at England's hospitals could save the NHS millions of pounds.
Peter Bone (Wellingborough), pictured, is introducing a Bill to abolish parking fees for patients and visitors in return for hospitals no longer paying business rates.
Mr Bone argues that it makes no sense for the Government to give taxpayers' cash to the NHS and then charge the hospitals millions through the tax.
He said: "We really shouldn't be funding the health service through car parking charges for people visiting sick relatives."
Hourly car parking charges at the Royal Stoke University Hospital are: 1 - £1.90; 2 - £3.20; 3 - £4.20; 4 - £6.10; 8 - £7.20; 24 - £9.50.
