EMERGENCY services and their agency colleagues were summoned to rescue a stranded couple from a crag at Thor's Cave, in the Manifold Valley, yesterday (Saturday, May 30) afternoon.
The cave stands around 80-metres (260ft) above the Manifold Trail, near Wetton, and is accessed via a steep footpath.
The couple, a woman believed to be 20-weeks pregnant, and her partner, became stuck while making their way back down to the valley bottom.
The Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation and Derby Mountain Rescue Team used a 'rope handrail' to guide the couple down the steep slope to safety.
The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue and a Hazardous Area Response Team were also on scene.
A Derby Mountain Rescue Team's spokesperson said: "A couple had taken a route out of the cave leading them down a scree slope.
"They became cragfast. This was our seventh call-out in a week, two of which have been to Thor's Cave".
