UTTOXETER Town continue to impress pre-season under their new manager Elliot Millin.
The team remain unbeaten after five warm-up games, drawing 2-2 away to North West Counties League outfit Stone Old Alleynians last night.
Uttoxeter had previously registered four successive wins at home to Wellington Amateurs (3-2), Shawbury United (4-1), Hanley Town (4-0) and Hulton United (2-1).
This Saturday, Uttoxeter travel to Nottingham to face Dunkirk FC from the East Midlands Counties League for their latest pre-season friendly.
For the first time fans will be able to see their team in action following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions affecting sport.
Uttoxeter go to Pointon Park, Cheddleton for their final warm up on Saturday, August 29, before the new Midland League season kicks off the following weekend.
Millin, who took over at Oldfields in May, following the shock death of club legend Dean Arnold, has high hopes for his new club.
Uttoxeter looked on the verge of winning promotion last season, before Covid-19 prompted the FA to bring the 2019-20 campaign to an abrupt halt in March.
The team were in fourth place in Division One – one of four promotion spots – when sport in general was brought to a halt by the spreading virus.
Uttoxeter open their 2020-21 MFL campaign at home to GNP Sports on Saturday, September 5, and then entertain Stafford Town on Tuesday, September 8 - presenting a good opportunity to get off to a six-point start.
Mullin said: "It is important to have a good start and then take each game as it comes.
“All of the lads did their own fitness during lockdown and training was enjoyable, albeit limiting at times whilst restrictions eased.
“But playing competitively is what it is all about and everyone is pleased to be back,” he added.
Mullin, pictured, landed the Uttoxeter job with an impressive CV that included guiding Sunday league team Churnet Valley to Staffordshire Cup success in 2018-19.
