Motorists warned of road closure in Leek for resurfacing work

MOTORISTS are being warned that a busy road in a Staffordshire Moorlands town will be closed to traffic from tomorrow (Monday, Nov 9).

Five days of resurfacing work is to take place on Belle Vue Road, in Leek, between Mill Street and Garden Street.

A traffic diversion will be in place via Mill Street, Garden Street and West Street.

A Staffordshire County Council highways spokesperson explained the road closure necessary "because of the likelihood of danger to the public during carriageway repairs".

"Access will be available for pedestrians and for vehicles being used in connection with the works and for emergency services vehicles or for vehicles requiring access to premises on the length of road which is closed.

"An alternative route for traffic is available via Garden Street, Belle Vue Road, Mill Street, Clerk Bank, West Street and vice versa," added the spokesperson.

The work is scheduled for completion on Friday (Nov 13).
