Man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

A MOTORCYCLIST has died following a fatal road traffic collision in Newcastle-under-Lyme this morning (August 7).

Police and paramedics were called at 10.25am to a report of a collision involving a motorcyclist on Parkhouse Road at the junction with Cedar Road.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his family has been offered support from specialist officers at this difficult time.

A 27-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody at this time.

An investigation is underway and officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
