THEATRELAND has brought some welcome pre-Christmas cheer to North Staffordshire.
Hanley's Regent Theatre will be staging a festive pantomime after initially being threatened with postponement due to Covid-19.
The show - starring Stoke-on-Trent's own Jonathan Wilkes - will go on from December 11 until January 3 - with social distancing measures in place.
It's thanks to support from the National Lottery 'Robinson Crusoe' the show will go ahead, in front of a reduced audience of up to 700 people.
Wilkes will take on the title role in what will be his 15th pantomime in his home city.
He said: "To have Stoke-on-Trent chosen as one of the 10 venues in the country by the National Lottery is testament to our theatre and the reputation of our pantomimes. We'll make sure it's a fantastic event for everyone."
