Leek Town use 18 players in their first pre-season friendly

NEW signing Will Saxon from Nantwich Town scored in Leek Town's 2-2 draw at Abbey Hulton United in a friendly played behind closed doors on Thursday night.

Tim Grice netted the Blues other goal against the NWCFL Division One side.

Leek used 18 players in kicking off their preparations for their BetVictor NPL Division One South campaign.

Blues have arranged a friendly away to Midland League First Division outfit Rocester FC on Friday, August 21.

Leek's other warm-up games include home games against Buxton (Sept 1) and Nantwich Town (Sept 5).

Midland League neighbours Rocester FC and Uttoxeter Town are both in action in friendlies at home behind closed doors today (Aug 8).

Rocester welcome Sandbach FC while Uttoxeter take on Shawbury United.

THE draw for the extra preliminary and preliminary rounds of the Emirates FA Cup will be made on Tuesday, August 18.

The competition is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, September 1.

As in previous seasons, there will be places for 736 participating clubs.

Non-league clubs had feared being overlooked in any rescheduling caused by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the FA has confirmed its intention to maintain the existing structure for the world's oldest football competition, which is in its 149th year.

Prize money has been halved this year, reverting back to the levels of 2017-18, because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Replays have been scrapped in the qualifying rounds to ease fixture congestion.

Preliminary round winners will receive £1,444 and losers £481.
