Late penalty robs the Romans of a point after great fight back

Rocester 2, Hinckley AFC 3

A LATE penalty robbed the Romans of a deserved point after they had fought back bravely from 2-0 down against the serious promotion challengers.

Sam Lockley marked his debut for Hinckley by scoring in the 10th and 35th minutes, before Liam Robinson replied in added time before the break from a low cross.

There was no further score until the 87th minute when Robinson found the net for the Romans from a free kick taken 25 yards out.

However, Hinckley won a penalty in the fourth minute of added time, which Tom Wheale converted to claim the points that take his side up to second in the MFL Division One table.

Hinckley's Nick Brandish was red-carded for dissent as he walked off a half-time and Rocester's Kieron Lawton was dismissed in the 80th minute for a late tackle.

Tonight's other Midland League Division One results:-

Brocton 1, Stafford Town 2; Kirby Muxlowe 1, Stapenhill 4.
