Jumps racing returns with a full entry of runners at Southwell

JUMPS racing leaps back into action in the UK today (July 1) after more than hree months in lockdown because of Covid-19.

A total of 108 runners have been declared for the nine-race card at the Southwell meeting in Nottinghamshire

A maximum of 12 runners are entered in the mixture of hurdles and steeplechase contests, and one open flat race.

There are no entries from Staffordshire Moorlands trainer Jennie Candlish's Basford Grange yard, but the stable's popular sprinter Show Palace goes on the flat at Haydock Park on Friday.

Jumps racing makes its return to Uttoxeter next Monday (July 6) with an afternoon meeting.

All race meetings remain behind closed doors until Government decides it is safe to allow large social gatherings again.
