FIREFIGHTERS are expressing concern about motorists hampering delaying their response to emergency calls in the countryside because of inconsiderate parking.
Staffordshire crews have been struggling to get to some grass and heathland blazes because of lines of cars parked along narrow lanes.
For the second time in less than 24 hours firefighters have been delayed on-route to a blaze at Chasewater Country Park due to cars being parked irresponsibly by visitors to the countryside.
As a result the crews had to make their way on foot to the scene.
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We must stress the importance of parking responsibly and leaving enough room for emergency vehicles [to pass]".
The county's firefighters were called out to more than 50 outside fires over the recent Bank Holiday weekend.
