Hungry Old Boys tuck into a vengeful goal feast to go top

Leek CSOB 7, Silverdale Athletic 1.

OLD Boys shot to the top of the Staffs County Senior League Premier Division by tucking into a goal feast at Pointon Park.

The hungry hosts were 4-1 up at half-time and wasted opportunities in the second period to make a real meal of their opponents

It was sweet revenge for the Old Boys who had to stomach being pipped by Silverdale for the 2018/19 Premiership title.

George Mealey helped himsef to Old Boys opener in the 19th minute only for the visitors to equalise just six minutes later.

However, Old Boys response was to stuff their visitors with three goals in a frenzied eight-minute spell before the interval.

Liam Wilson scored the first, Danny Forrester the second and then Wilson netted again to leave Silverdale feeling somewhat deflated over their half-time cuppa.

However, the refreshed visitors began the second half well and Nathan Jon Thorley was forced into making a couple of good saves to preserve Old Boys lead.

Old Boys made a number of substitutions to get back into the game and in the 80th minute Tome Lowe made it 6-1 and then added the icing to the cake with a second goal.

This coming Saturday Old Boys travel to Rocester FC's Hillsfield ground to take on Ashbourne.
