Golf is back in full swing at Birchall course after virus lockdown

LEEK Golf Club has been snowed under by an avalanche of bookings, after the sport was given the go-ahead this week. The club opened online bookings on Monday, after England Golf confirmed the easing of lockdown restrictions that stopped play almost two months ago. A total of 131 players got into the swing of things on the Birchall course yesterday (May 13), but with social distancing guidelines in place to combat the threat of coronavirus, including the clubhouse being out of bounds. Leek professional Greg Rogula, pictured, told The Sentinel: "I have been waiting for this day for what seems like ages. It is great to see the course in use again, and people enjoying themselves".

Visitors to the Cheadle Road course are made welcome and can book up to 48 hours in advance, but members take priority.
