RACEHORSE Ulverston pulled another suprise win out of the hat for Staffordshire Moorlands trainer Jennie Candlish (pictured) in the opener at Uttoxeter Races today.
It was the fourth winner over obstacles in 13 days for Jennie's Basford Grange stables near Leek and was a maiden success for Ulverston at the sixth time of asking.
Like Team Candlish's three recent previous winners, the five-year-old gelding was returning to racecourse after a lengthy absence - in this instance 265 days.
Ulverston is one of five horses that have been sent to Uttoxeter from the Candlish yard today (Oct 30), all to be ridden by 2019 Scottish Grand National winning jockey Sean Quinlan.
Victory by Ulverston in the first of the seven races on the card - a 2m 3f novices hurdle - was achieved by half-a-length from the Tracey Leeson-trained Top Drawer in soft going.
