Firefighters on their toes in a perfect 'Swan Lake' movement

FIREFIGHTERS have rescued an injured swan from a Staffordshire lake in a joint operation with the RSPCA.

A crew from Newcastle fire station used a water rescue boat to retrieve the bird from a lake at Weston-under-Lizard, near Stafford, after receiving a call from help from the RSPCA.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "The swan has been left with the RSPCA for veterinary care.
