Fatally injured passenger in Meir collision is named by police

A MAN who died in a road traffic collision in Meir earlier this week has been named by police.

Emergency services were called at 4.05am on Tuesday morning (Nov 3) to a report of a collision involving a Audi A4 on Sandon Road near the junction with Martindale Close.

A passenger in the vehicle was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. He was named 65-year-old Paul Hammersley from Stoke-on-Trent.

The driver – a 29-year-old man - remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Officers from Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances around the collision and continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
