LASAR Radio presenter Derek Walker welcomes former Stoke City footballer Ryan Shotton as a guest on his Cheddleton Chats Show this afternoon (Friday, July 7), between 2pm - 4pm.
Ryan lived in Cheddleton before moving up to the North East in 2017, when he signed for EFL Championship club Middlesbrough from Birmingham City, the undisclosed transfer fee thought to be £3 million.
He has maintained his connection with the Staffordshire Moorlands village through family.
The Potteries-born defender's career started with progression through the Stoke City Academy and led to him signing a professional contract with the Potters in 2007.
Ryan then went on loan to Altrincham, Tranmere Rovers and Barnsley respectively to gain first team experience.
He broke into the Stoke first team squad towards the end of the 2010–11 season and played in the UEFA Europa League in 2011–12 scoring against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
In September 2013, Ryan joined Wigan Athletic on loan and then joined Derby County on loan in August 2014 before completing a permanent move to the Rams in January 2015.
In 2016, he spent time on loan at Birmingham City and signed for them permanently in June of that year, before moving on to Middlesbrough in August 2017.
