Ilkeston Town 2, Leek Town 3
FORMER Premiership player Ryan Shotton made his second quick appearance as Leek Town shot to the top of the NPL South East Division in Derbyshire tonight (Nov 3).
The ex-Stoke City, Birmingham City and Middlesbrough defender made a surprise debut for Blues in their losing FA Trophy engagement at Evesham United on Saturday.
The 32-year-old was recruited by Blues boss Neil Baker to help the club through their current injury problems that have robbed them of key players.
Ilkeston went ahead through Alex Troke after 11 minutes and went close to doubling their lead eight minutes before half-time.
It needed a brilliant save from Roberts in the Leek goal to keep out Ollie Brown Hill's volleyed attempt from 30-yards out.
Port Vale loanee Dan Trickett-Smith (pictured) twice went close to scoring for Blues in the opening period, firstly hitting the bar early on and then later aiming just wide from the edge of the box
Tricket-Smith, who was a constant threat throughout the first half, was rewarded for his efforts with Blues equaliser after 54 minutes.
Marc Grocott then turned the game onto its head by putting The Baker Boys ahead nine minutes later.
Trickett-Smith made it 3-1 after 79 minutes before Joe Wilson replied for Ilkeston in the 90th minute.
Tonight's other result in the NPL South East Division: Chasetown 3, Newcastle Town 0.
