Cricket clubs warned they must adhere to coronavirus rules

CLUBS in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire Cricket League have been warned they may face sanctions if they contravine coronavirus guidelines introduced by the sport's governing body.

The warning has come from league chairman Gavin Carr who said: "We have been made aware of isolated incidents involving the use of changing rooms, which isn't allowed, and clubs need to act responsibly.

"We are monitoring the situation, and any adverse feedback will be discussed on a personal basis with a club.

"We can't stress enough the importance of keeping people safe.

"Clubs need to recognise that a lot of hard work has been carried out by our governing body [ECB] to successfully avchieve the return to cricket, and we have a collective responsibility to follow follow the guidance we have been given.

Carr, chairman of Checkley CC, added: "We hope that clubs will continue to follow the guidelines. However, transgressions may result in sanctions having to be appied to those clubs.

"The last thing we want is for cricket to be taken away from us at a time when we need it most."
