Compensation awaits disappointed Alton Towers thrill-seekers

HIGH winds and 'teething problems' caused the closure of some rides at Alton Towers yesterday (July 5).

The theme park only full re-opened to visitors the previous day after being in the grip of lockdown since mid-March.

Favourite white-knuckle rides including Smiler and Oblivion did not operate, but Towers bosses expect the rides to be operating again in the next few days.

Compensation awaits yesterday's disappointed thrill-seekers.

Towers bosses tweeted to visitors: "A million apologies to our visitors today: we know that high winds & teething problems with our rides are affecting your day so we're offering you a free return trip.

"pls gs.feedback@alton-towers.com with your booking ref/photos of your tickets when you're ready to rebook."
