Cheadle and Porthill Park in top-of-the-table clash at Tean Road

MATCH-of-the Day in the North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket League tomorrow (August 1) is surely the Premier Division top-of-the-table clash between Cheadle and Porthill Park.

The Tean Road ground will be buzzing for this confrontation between two teams who have won both their two opening starts.

Cheadle staged an amazing comeback at last season's runners-up, Meakins, last weekend, where they recovered from 78-4, after losing four of their opening batsmen for just four runs.

The visitors went on to win the game by 13 runs, after getting Meakins all out for 109, having beaten Moddershall & Oulton by 54 runs at home the previous week.

Porthill opened their season with a seven-wicket win at Longton and followed up with a six-wicket success at home to Whitmore last weekend.

Meakins will be out to quickly atone for their defeat by Cheadle, when they travel to winless Ashcombe Park, while Checkley host Longton at Four Trees and Leek seek to make it back-to-back wins at home to Moddershall & Oulton.

Former Staffordshire seamer Greg Willott makes a delayed start to the campaign for Bagnall Norton at Stone SP after recovering from an eye injury.

All games start at 1pm.
