Busy commuter route temporarily closed for resurfacing work

MOTORISTS are being warned that a busy commuter route in the Staffordshire Moorlands has temporarily been closed this morning to allow for necessary resurfacing work.

It is a section of the A53 Buxton Road on the outskirts of Leek, between the junctions of Thorncliffe Road and Thorncliffe Lane

A Staffordshire Highways Authority spokesperson said: "Access will be available for pedestrians and for vehicles being used in connection with the works and for emergency services vehicles or for vehicles requiring access to premises on the length of road which is closed".

Signposted diversions are in place until the road is scheduled to reopen at 2pm. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys
