Blues Babes will face a new name in the WMCL this season

LEEK Town Ladies will come up against a new name in the West Midlands Women's Regional Premier League Premier Division this season.

It's City of Stoke Ladies FC who played previously under the name Kidsgrove Athletic Ladies in the WMCL.

The team has been adopted by the expanding Newcastle-based club City of Stoke based at Kiln Park, Whisper Lane.

The Blues Babes pre-season preparations got off to a good start with a 4-0 victory at home to Rise Park Ladies last weekend.

The visitors play in the East Midlands Women's Regional League Premier Division and so provided Ian Smith's team with a decent work-out.

Goals from Katie Gibbons (2), Rehanne Mellor and Katie Maya secured the victory for Leek.

City of Stoke have won both their pre-season friendlies: against Chester City Ladies (6-4 at home) and Walsall Phoenix (4-2 away).
