IT'S been a particularly harsh end to the football season for Leek Town Ladies senior team. The Blues Babes would have been contesting the Staffordshire Women's Cup Final against Stoke City last Tuesday night, but were denied by the coronavirus lockdown. It added to Ian Smith's team's frustration of missing out on possible promotion to the Women's National League due to the FA rendering the season null and void. The Babes were lying second in the West Women's Regional League Premier Division table, with two games in hand over their rivals, before the FA stepped in.
Smith said: "We will all start again from scratch with a new season when told it’s safe to do so. In the meantime stay safe everyone".
