Appeal: Man sustained serious head injuries in street assault

POLICE are appealing for information after a man sustained serious head injuries in an assault in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

The victim, aged 18, was attacked at around 10pm on Friday, October 23, outside King Street Working Mens’ Club, at the corner of Derwant Place and King Street, Cross Heath.

Police believe the victim was punched in the face and knocked unconscious while getting into a taxi.

He sustained serious head injuries, including a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain, in the attack.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged to undergo care at home.

DC Naomi Kinnersley, of Staffordshire Police CID North, said: “We are currently reviewing CCTV footage of the area and interviewing witnesses.

“However, I would like to appeal to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch and assist police in our ongoing inquiries.”
