Reading 0, Stoke City 3
IF author Roald Dahl was still around today he might have looked toward Stoke City for inclusion in his tome 'Tales of the Unexpected.'
Each episode told a story, often with sinister and wryly comedic undertones, with an unexpected twist ending, which just about sums up the Potters unpredictable start to the 2020-21 season.
Stoke fans were left scratching their heads again today (Nov 7), but on this occasion with a huge smile on their faces, after their team won 3-0 away to Championship leaders Reading.
Reading had lost their two previous games, bringing to an end seven wins from eight starts, so Stoke were taking on their opponents had a good time.
And they took full advantage, despite being on the receiving end for much of the first half, by capitalising on defensive errors by their hosts to lead 2-0 at the break.
Both goals came from defensive errors which Tyrese Campbell (23') and Steven Fletcher (35') seized upon with clinical finishes.
Reading went close on a couple of occasions to scoring in the second half, before substitute Jacob Brown (90'+5) netted Stoke's third goal deep into stoppage time.
