Alton Towers fireworks spectacular cancelled because of Covid

ANOTHER big annual social attraction in the Staffordshire Moorlands has been cancelled because of Covid-19.

The popular fireworks display at Alton Towers joins the Leek and Ipstones agricultural shows, Leek Club Day and other crowd-pulling events postponed because of the virus restrictions imposed by Government.

The fireworks display was scheduled to take place at the theme park over the weekend November 7-8.

An Alton Towers spokesman said: "After much careful consideration, we felt it unwise to go ahead with our annual Fireworks Spectacular given the current restrictions on group gatherings and the risks associated with bringing large groups together to watch a display.

"We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause."
