A tonic for Stoke ahead off their crucial clash with Birmingham

TODAY'S (July 11) results in the Championship favoured Stoke City in their fight to avoid relegation.

Potters fans would be relieved to see Hull, immediately below 21st placed Stoke in the table, beaten 1-0 at home by Millwall.

Just one point separates Stoke from Hull who are sitting on top of the relegation zone.

Another good result for Stoke was Barnsley's goalless draw at home to currently 15th-placed Wigan, who face an end-of-season 12-point deduction for going into administration.

It's going to take something special now for bottom-of-the-table Barnsley to avoid the drop into League One, who are now one point adrift of the resurging Luton Town above them.

If Stoke beat Birmingham City at home tomorrow they will leap frog over Charlton (beaten 1-0 at home by Reading), Middlesbrough (beaten 3-1 at home by Bristol City) and Huddersfield, who suffered a costly 2-0 defeat at home to Luton last night - a result which lifted the latter off the foot of the table.
