RED Giant dwarfed his opponents to win the feature race on the card for Staffordshire Moorlands trainer at Sedgefield today (Oct 18).
The nine-year-old gelding came home a clear winner of the Durham National Handicap Chase, worth £15,640 to the winner, to end a frustrating barren run for the Basford Grange yard near Leek.
The Giant led all the way with a tremendous show of stamina, after stepping up to 3m 5f for the first time, and landed generous odds of 16/1 for his faithful followers
His 36-year-old Jockey, Shaun Quinlan, is well acquainted with successfully covering marathon distances in the saddle, having won last year's Scottish Grand National on board the Nicky Richards-trained Takingrisks.
