2020 Support Staffordshire Volunteer Star Awards on hold

THIS year's Support Staffordshire Volunteer Star Awards have been temporarily put on hold due to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Award winners were to be recognised at area presentation ceremonies across the county this month.

The organisers have now announced nominations will continue to be accepted until further notice.

The various awards categories publicly recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution volunteers play in supporting their communities.

A Support Staffordshire spokesperson said: "We hope to be able to reschedule later in the year, but all we can do is monitor the situation over the next few weeks/months and try to navigate through this unprecedented time as best we can. We will reschedule and announce new dates when we are able to.

"In the meantime nominations will be open until further notice."

The community award categories include Volunteer Team of the Year, Business Contribution to Communities, New Volunteer Team of the Year and Young Volunteer of the Year.

The 2019 Staffordshire Moorlands presentation ceremony was held at event sponsor Westwood Golf Club in Leek.

More than 1200 people attended ceremonies across the county with other events held in Cannock Chase, Stafford and District, Lichfield and District, South Staffordshire, and East Staffordshire.

This year we will see the launch of additional presentation events in Tamworth and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Support Staffordshire is the largest independent voice for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations in the county.
